Batting Your Lashes: Clinique – High Lengths Mascara

I have the Clinique High Lengths Mascara in a sample size and to be honest I cant remember where I picked this up from.  I have a feeling my mum passed this to me as she purchases more Clinique products thank I do.  Anyway… I was swapping out my mascaras and my old was need to be replaced so I picked up this one.  First time I took it out I said – ‘what the heck?!?’

The wand is a slightly curved with two to three rows of comb-teeth like bristles on it.  It does provide some length and some curl but it is not by any means the most impact-ful mascara that I have ever used.  I am right-handed so when I do my right eye I can get the inner corner but the outer corner proves difficult  because you have to hold the wand a  specific angle to get the short brushes at the end.  For my left eye I have to contort my arm a bit so it works for the outer corner but not the inner corner.

This mascara needs to be built up whilst the lashes are wet.  If you let the first coat dry and then add a second coat it is hard to apply as the lashes are hard and the lack of bristles means that it is not easy to spread the product.

The formula is quite black and not too thick so I tried it with a disposable mascara wand and found that I quite liked this mascara so my issues  with this mascara lie solely with the delivery system.  The wand picks up quite alot of product because the stopper on the bottle is not tight enough and the wand lets the product down.  If you are a person that happy applies two different mascaras to your lashes, this will work as the second mascara as it will definitely provide length.

Overall, I feel really ‘meh’ about this mascara.  If you can take the time with the application the final effect is nice…but it is work.   If you have long lashes, you may like this formula or if you want a ‘natural’ lash look. The formula is nice but since the delivery is so poor I would have to say that I do not recommend this product.  You can get better formulas that are easier to apply on the high street and in high end products.
