Sixty Seconds With … Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic

Rodial Dragons Blood toner

I know that I am in the minority when I say that I am a big fan of toner.  Personally I can see the difference in my skin when I do and don’t use a good hydrating toner.  The more layers of hydration I add to my skin the better my skin looks.  A toner in mist format is always a bonus so I had high expectations of  the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic.

Dragons blood is not harvested from a dragon and it is not blood either. It is the resin from a tree which is harvested and used for a variety of purposes.  It has a bright red colour so can be used to colour for example furniture,  but in terms of skincare it has clinically proven to have anti viral and anti fungal properties as well as being high in anti oxidants.

Rodial have gone the whole hog with this product, putting it in a very heavy glass jar (which I love) and the plastic pump disperses a very very fine mist.  It is such good packaging, that I am going to use it for other toners that dont come in bottle with a pump once I have finished this bottle.

At thirty three pounds a bottle,  this is not a cheap toner.  Damn straight I expect it to be beautifully housed and as much as the Dragons Blood gets all the attention, there are other great ingredients in this tonic too.  This toner has a rosewater base and of course the hyaluronic acid is the main hydrating power house.  Glycerine is a humectant which can help to keep the surface of the skin hydrated and  zinc which  is anti inflammatory.

I find that the best way to use this product is as a hydrating mist.  It is great over acid toners and when your skin is not problematic.  It also works well as a finishing spray over makeup and as a general skin refresher.  If there is room in your bathroom cabinet for a luxe mist, this is a great option. If you are looking for a hard working reasonably priced toner, this is not for you.
